Watch Out For ‘Battery Trials’ and Other Scams

It’s one of the oldest tricks in the book. Promote a product by promising to be part of a ‘Trial’ at a discounted rate in return for providing feedback, data or access to the performance of the system. ‘Subsidised Trial’, ‘Testing Phase’, ‘Battery Program’, ‘Group Testing’ and so on. Yeah, right…. And we have seen this dodgy sales technique being used around Australia over the last few years to sell solar batteries, often at inflated prices, by companies using high-pressure sales practices. Unsuspecting customers who already have solar panels installed receive letters in the mail with offers that sound fantastic

The real story behind ‘free’ Solar – PPA, Lease and Loans

Maybe you’ve heard from a friend about a free solar panel offer.  Your electricity company normally charges you for every kWh of electricity that you use plus a service charge. You’ll receive a regular bill for that service from your energy retailer.  Power prices are rising every single year and it can seem like there’s nothing you can do about it. Even if you change supplier, you’re going to face the same problem. So it can be tempting to go straight for that free solar panel offer, whether it’s a No-Interest Repayment Plan,  PPA or other financing option. Is it

Does Solar Power Work On Cloudy Days?

A solar system does not only work at maximum capacity. In low light conditions such as early in the morning or when it is overcast, solar panels will still convert light into power for your home, just at a reduced rate. For example, a 5kW system may only be outputting 2kWs of power on a cloudy day. There is a point where the energy produced is no longer strong enough to power the inverter and the system will turn off. This happens every evening and perhaps during an especially dark storm. Here is an example of one of our high

No Electricity Bills – Can You Eliminate Your Power Bill With Solar Power?

The Solaray Team want you to get the best value out of your solar system, which typically means a fast return on your money. A well-sized solar system can pay for itself in as little as 3-5 years with a 5kW system potentially saving you up to $50,000 on your power bills over the life of the system. However, many Solaray customers are more interested in minimising or even eliminating their electricity bills with solar power! For example, people who are entering retirement will use spare cash or money from their superannuation to set themselves up for the next 25

Can I Add Solar Panels To An Existing Solar System?

Thanks to technology from Enphase, we can now get around the previous limitations that made it so difficult to add panels to an existing system. You can now easily expand your existing system and add solar panels to a total array that is right for your energy needs. From a technical standpoint, we cannot add panels to an existing solar installation that is older than a year or two. This is because the Australian standards have been raised, so if we were to touch your existing system we would have to replace all of the cables. We would also have
