As the days start to get longer and the sun gets a little higher in the sky, a solar power system in NSW will now start to output significantly more power. A 5kW solar system in Sydney will output around 20 kWh a day, averaged out across the year (as shown by the red line below). During summer, a 5kW system will typically output over 30 kWh on a sunny day, enough power for the average Sydney household to be 100% self-sufficient.
Solaray customers with larger solar + storage systems will now start to generate enough power to run their home on solar power during the day, plus send any excess solar power into their battery to use during the evening. Households with the new Powerwall 2 battery from Tesla have 13.5 kWh of storage, often enough to run their home on solar power for 24 hours.
