SolarEdge Solar System In Australia – Supersize Your Savings

Smart-Energy-Solutions

A well designed solar system can save you thousands of dollars and significantly increase output by over-sizing the panel array compared to the SolarEdge inverter.  We call this Supersizing Your Solar.

Solar power is an investment that rewards you with decades of lower power bills, and a well-designed system can mean bigger savings over the long run. Let’s get into the details and find out how you can save thousands off your solar power quote by adding additional solar panels to a SolarEdge inverter.

Supersize Your SolarEdge Solar System

To maximise system efficiency, we want the system to reach its maximum output as quickly as possible, and then stay there for as long as possible. By adding additional solar panels to a SolarEdge inverter, your system will generate more power in the morning, reach maximum output sooner, work at maximum output for longer, and produce more power later into the afternoon.

The downside is that on the best days of the year, the system’s output will be slightly clipped for a short period of time, however the loss of power through clipping is very small compared to the additional power the system generates across the year. By adding panels to your SolarEdge System, we can significantly increase system output and distribute this output more evenly across the day:

As illustrated, even on the few days where some clipping does occur, the loss is, for the most part, made up by the fact that you have more panels outputting more power in the morning and during the afternoon.

Furthermore, the STC government rebate is based on the size of the panel array, not the inverter, so the price of the additional panels is significantly offset by the increased government rebate.

A SolarEdge system can be oversized by around 30%, which means that for a 5kW system we can install a panel array of up to around 6.6kW.

  1. […] If you are using a lot of power during the daytime, or you are considering a large solar battery such as Tesla Powerwall 2, we can install a 5kW SolarEdge system, and then oversize the inverter with a panel array of up to around 6.5 kW. An oversized panel array is a great way to maximise the benefit of your investment, and typically we can go up to 130% of the inverter’s rating. More information is available here… […]
