Victorian Home Battery Rebate Program Expands

The Victorian Solar Battery Rebate has expanded to include 104 postcodes.

Victorians living in 80 additional postcodes can now apply for financial assistance to install a home battery.

A total of 400 rebates worth up to $4,838 are available, with a further 400 available in March.

A list of eligible postcodes can be found at this solar battery storage rebate page.

The rebate helps offset the cost of adding home battery storage to a rooftop solar system.

Who is eligible for a home battery rebate?

To be eligible to apply, householders must:

  • Live in an eligible postcode;
  • Get approval for a battery from their distribution network service provider before installation;
  • Have an existing solar PV system larger than 5kW; and
  • Meet other eligibility criteria.

Solar Victoria CEO Stan Krpan says the battery rebate is part of the state’s transition to a low-carbon future.

“Many households in regional Victoria will be able to participate in the battery program for the first time and there are now more opportunities for our solar businesses,” he said.

Areas in western and northern Melbourne have been added as well as postcodes around Ballarat, Bendigo and Gippsland.

Only 456 households will be given a rebate before the 29th of February 2020, so it is important that you place an order with us asap to ensure that you don’t miss out.

Applications will be processed by Solar Victoria, and if you are successful we will then contact you to arrange an installation.

Installations will be done based on when your order was placed, so make sure your order form is signed off with us as soon as you are ready. By doing so you will claim your place in the queue for an installation.
