Solar Victoria’s Battery Storage Rebate has been replaced by an interest free loan. 4500 households will be able to claim this loan in 2023 and 2024. This interest free loan is a total game-changer for battery storage in Victoria. Households can now apply for the State Government’s $8800 Battery Storage Interest Free Loan through Solaray Energy when ordering a Tesla Powerwall home battery or Enphase IQ Battery.

Only a limited number of households will be given a rebate during the latest release, there are currently around 4500 loans to claim by the end of 2024, and with the recent announcement, they’re running out fast.

Applications are processed by Solar Victoria, and if you are successful we will then contact you to arrange an installation.

The details of the Solar Victoria Battery Storage Loan

Households will have up to $8800 financed through Solar Victoria’s interest free loan scheme for a solar home battery. The maximum rebate value will be applied to the Tesla Powerwall, making this one of your best chances to maximise the potential of your existing solar power system and your energy independence.

Eligibility for the Victoria battery storage rebate

From the Solar Victoria website:

Victorians are eligible to receive a battery rebate if they meet all of the following criteria:

• you are the owner-occupier of an existing property where the system is to be installed
• the combined household taxable income of all owners is less than $210,000 per year
• the property is valued at under $3 million
• the property address has not previously received a solar battery rebate
• the property has a solar panel system with an inverter capacity equal to or greater than 5kW,or will have one installed in conjunction with the solar battery installation.
• the energy storage solution has a capacity equal to or greater than 6kWh and is listed on Solar Victoria’s battery product list and the property does not have an existing energy storage system.
• pre-approval is obtained from your Distributed Network Service Provider (DNSP) to safely connect a battery to the grid
• the owner/s agrees to receive information from their Distribution Network Service Provider about taking part in battery trials to maximise the value households get from them.

Important: you can only claim 1 rebate from Solar Victoria. You can only claim this Battery Storage Rebate if you have not previously claimed the Solar Rebate from Solar Victoria for the property (this does not include the federal government STC program.
